2023, July, Makati –  Buskowitz Energy, one of the major players in the rooftop solar industry, was commissioned by Unilab’s manufacturing subsidiary, Amherst Laboratories, Inc. (ALI), to install 900 tier one solar panels on its Admin Building and Delta Plant at Biñan, Laguna. This will enable the largest manufacturing pharmaceutical plant in the Philippines to transition its operations to run on renewable energy with 496 kilowatt-peak rooftop solar PV system.

Buskowitz Energy’s Chief Executive Officer, James Buskowitz, shared, “We are excited to kickstart our partnership with ALI.  It is our mission to continuously offer sustainable solutions to our clients in an effort to accelerate the Philippines’ shift from fossil fuels towards renewable energy.”

With a shared commitment to environmental stewardship, the installation was designed to produce an average production of 700,000 kilowatt-hours of energy annually. During the project’s lifetime, the solar PV system will allow ALI to potentially save up to Php 150 million of imported energy from the grid. This is equivalent to sequestering carbon generated by consuming 5 million liters of gasoline; preventing 12 million pounds of coal from being burned; or electrifying 2,000 homes for one year.

“Today is a momentous event as we inaugurate the first installation of solar panels in ALI. The use of renewable energy such as solar panels, not only gives us savings in our operations but also provides opportunity to contribute to the overall effort of reducing greenhouse gas emission. We are stepping forward to help promote the use of renewable energy and help reduce our carbon footprint,” says Engr. Limuel Razo, Corporate Vice President and Head of Manufacturing of Unilab, Inc.

ALI joins Buskowitz’s belt of 300 solar rooftop projects around the country. To-date, Buskowitz has installed on and provided solar for international brands such as Coca-Cola, Shell, as well as other local industry giants such as Petron, SM Mall, Robinson’s Malls, NLEX or Metropacific Investments, among others.
