We’ve Seen the Light

Buskowitz Offers Renewable Energy Solutions Throughout the Philippines

Renewable energy is something the Philippines needs, especially with electricity rates in the country that are among the highest in the world.

Seven years ago, Buskowitz Group’s Chief Operating Officer and founder James Buskowitz started his sustainable solutions and integrated services organization, which aimed to accelerate the country’s development towards renewable energy through solar photovoltaic rooftop installations. What was initially research on how to lower the electricity bills of his family-owned hotel in Boracay turned into an advocacy.

“We sought an easy entry point into the sustainable sector,” says Buskowitz. “And we realised that solar was it. There were no providers at the time that were offering the kind of service we knew most businesses would be happy with.”

“It’s a win-win situation. Businesses get to go solar as quickly and easily as buying new car.”

Buskowitz, who is passionate about finding solutions, was one of the first, if not the first, in the country to offer BOLT plans for solar installations. BOLT, which stands for Build-Operate-Lease-Transfer, offers businesses the opportunity to go solar with little to no upfront cost. Buskowitz Group builds the installation, operates, and at the end of the lease period, gives ownership to the client while still being available for maintenance and operation.

“It’s a win-win situation. Businesses get to go solar as quickly and easily as buying a new car, and with a similar payback period as that of a new vehicle. We’re making it as easy for households as well,” says Buskowitz.

Buskowitz’ view in developing a large sustainable asset and infrastructure base is not only for its own development interests, but to continue to contribute to the low carbon future initiative, while servicing the growing energy demand and challenges facing the Philippine and South East Asia Region.

Apart from solar installations, the Buskowitz Group offers engineering services and consultation, all with sustainability as their bottom line.
