Where to Donate Plastic Waste this 2023

Contrary to the song ‘Barbie Girl’, we do not agree that life in plastic is fantastic. In fact, it’s toxic–with the harm stretching its effect to the human body and to the environment. So, we are listing down where you can donate your plastic waste this 2023.

A recent study, as devastating as it is, shows that the Philippines is the world’s top contributor of plastic waste in the ocean. In a data visualization done by Mr. Louis Lugas Wicaksono, it can easily be seen how the Philippines’ Ocean Plastic Waste is higher compared to its neighboring countries and even that of the world. But beyond these figures, it is worth noting that our country is an archipelago with a string of over 7,100 islands. Although that fact is important, it is not merely the only reason why our plastic pollutants are higher. On the other hand, poor waste management is also a culprit for the surprising amount of plastic in the oceans.

Since our archipelago is out of our control, perhaps we can contribute by focusing on managing our waste better instead. So, if you have plastic waste piling up in your home, here are places you can donate them to:

1. Green Antz Builders

Green Antz give plastics another life by turning them into bricks, which could build new homes. They collect clean and dry soft drink and mineral water bottles, shampoo bottles, toothpaste tubes, shopping bags, and more. You may also check here for the complete list of plastics they accept.
